Return to Winter Training following Successful Season

old pool

PSVL are to make a return to winter training at the swimming pool starting 5th of October, following the end of another successful season patrolling Southsea.

At the start of October, PSVL will move the weekly training sessions on Tuesday evenings to the swimming pool as we move into our winter season. This means the end of our beach training and patrols, following another sucessful season on Southsea Seafront. Once again, the club were able to provide a voluntary weekend service, keeping swimmers safe despite the Covid-19 pandemic still posing a great threat to our members.

Our first winter training session will be held on the 5th of October 2021 at the Mountbattern Swimming Pool in Portsmouth, and will continue every Tuesday evening. The timings will be 20:00 until 22:00, with the first hour of the session being land based theory and second half water based in the swimming pool. Here we are able to focus on the beach lifeguard syllabus, where we teach and train our members to become lifeguards for the following season where they can put the skills they learnt into practice.

From January 2022, the club will be training at the new University of Portsmouth Swimming Pool, based in Southsea. Details of these training sessions will be confirmed at a later date. If you are interested in attending our winter training sessions and gaining your RLSS Beach Lifeguard Qualification with us please contact us on our website or email info@portsmouthlifeguards.org
